Smiles on the Farm!

Farm life always has it's good sides, dispite all of the dirty work. (Such as cleaning stalls)  Rain or shine every morning the chore crew plods to the barn before breakfast to feed and water and let all of the animals in the pasture.  Then trudge back to the house for a quick breakfast and clean up, and then to school!  Brushing all that aside, farm life is a good life.  Always looking at the bright side and always ready to smile!  :-)
    Smile!
And some silliness! :-)  (Not sure why Mr. Stripe (rooster) is in this picture)
Freddy: "Now don't bother the chicken!  Just try and see if there's an egg under her."
Twins!  (Mr. Stripe apparently likes to photobomb!)
And some more silliness!  (Someone came and removed Mr. Stripe)
2/1/2014 Wilder Farm Chore Team!  (With no Mr. Stripe)
Thanks so much for your help!  It was greatly appreciated!

  2. How exactly are you supposed to figure out if there's an egg under a hen without disturbing it?
I'm hoping to get ponies sometime. Sometime soon. We have chickens already too. Do you have horses?

    1. Hello Becca:
Well, if you are good at it (which Philip and Padden aren't) you can reach the egg under the hen without her flying in your face.
Yes, if you read our last post, we have 3 horses, 7 chickens, 4 cows, and a goat. We also have a farm cat and dog. They are all very good animals setting aside the time when Billy (the goat) bucked Parker off and that he had to get stitches. (sigh)

    2. Stitches? Ouch! And you still have the goat?

    3. Yes, Becca, we do still have a goat because some of our kids can't drink cows milk and we didn't want to mess around with trying to get another one. I feed the goat now, because all of the kids are now afraid of him.

    4. Okay. Makes sense--that you still have him, AND that every one is afraid of him!

  4. Ellen,
We still think that you need to begin writing children's books. Your pictures, stories, comments, and scriptures are great and very creative. We do not know how you remember all the details that you have created, but we enjoy reading about your most unusual families. Love, Grandma and Grandpa
